History of YCS
Yucaipa Christian Schools (elementary and preschool) are ministries sponsored by Yucaipa Valley Christian School District. YCS is interdenominational, meaning that we accept students from many denominations; enrollment is open to all who wish to attend.
The Yucaipa Christian Schools were organized in September 1976 under the sponsorship of First Baptist Church of Yucaipa. The day care ministry had been in operation for many years when a kindergarten was established in 1976. In its early days, the school was housed in various rooms of the main church building and an adjoining house. In 1978, when the two-story Christian Education building was constructed, first through fifth grades were added. A junior high was established in the 1982-1983 school year, but was later dropped due to small enrollment and inadequate facilities.
In July of 2009, operations of Yucaipa Christian Schools were transferred to the leadership of Yucaipa Valley Christian School District, which is supported by over 200 individual members and seven sponsoring churches. YVCSD is a non-profit corporation which formed in early 2009 to offer greater financial resourcing to Christian education in the Yucaipa valley. It is hoped that with community-wide support YCS will be able to offer a wider range of services to our students and eventually make the cost of Christian schooling more affordable to families.
Our enrollment has grown year by year, and the school has expanded to include both Yucaipa Christian Preschool (2 1/2 years—junior kindergarten) and Yucaipa Christian School (K-6). Over 200 children are now enrolled.
The Yucaipa Christian Schools make no distinction in its admission or education services on the grounds of race, color, or national origin to qualified students.
