Mr. Cochran: YCS Administrator
Education: BA Social Sciences, San Jose University; MS Educational Administration, Pensacola Christian College
ACSI Credential - Lifetime All-Levels Principal

Mr. Cochran taught in Christian schools from 1986-1995, at which time he moved into adminstrative work. He has been the Administrator of YCS since October of 2000. He is an avid cyclist and leads our spring Strada Corsa Fundraising Bike Tour to raise funds to combat childhood obesity.

Mrs. Ishida: YCS Principal
Education: BS Elementary Education, Indiana University; MA Education, Cal State San Bernardino

ACSI Credential - Elementary Principal.

Mrs. Ishida began her teaching career in San Bernardino in 1987. She has taught at YCS since 2002 and is entering her first year as the elementary school principal. Mrs Ishida loves to read and spend time with her family outside of school.

 

Mrs. Liles: Kindergarten Teacher
Education: BA Liberal Studies, University of Redlands; MA Education, University of Redlands

Mrs. Liles’s teaching experience spans 50 years. This is her 31th year teaching kindergarten at YCS. She loves visiting with former students and seeing what God is doing in their lives. She also enjoys scrapbooking and spending time with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Martinez: First Grade Teacher
Education: BA Liberal Studies, Cal State University San Bernardino.
ACSI Credential - Elementary Teacher

Mrs. Martinez has been in the field of education since 2002. She taught Junior Kindergarten in our Preschool for 3 years. This will be her 2nd year teaching first grade. Among her hobbies are reading, sewing and gardening.


Miss Dahlin (Soon to be Leenstra):  Second Grade Teacher

Miss Dahlin has been in the classroom since 2004. She has taught second and sixth grade as well as a one room school house of kids in Mexico. This will be her first year at YCS. Miss Dahlin is passionate about serving and enjoys photography, reading and the outdoors.

Mrs. Grimwood: Third Grade Teacher
Education: BA Liberal Studies, Azusa Pacific University

Mrs. Grimwood taught fourth grade her first year at YCS; she has taught third grade for the past five years. Upon completing her capstone project at APU, she will receive her MS in Education. Mrs. Grimwood enjoys travel and photography in her free time.

Mrs. Jones: Fourth Grade Teacher
Education: BA Child Development, Cal State San Bernardino

Mrs. Jones has experience teaching in grades K-6 as well as preschool over the past 12 years. She is passionate about children's literature and plans to pursue her master's degree in the future. This will be her 2nd year teaching fourth grade at YCS.

Miss Hopwood: Fifth Grade Teacher
Education: BA Psychology, Cal State San Bernardino. MA Education - National University.

Miss Hopwood Began teaching in Christian Education in 1997. She has spent 8 years teaching second grade and 4 years teaching fourth grade. This will be her 2nd year teaching fifth grade at YCS.


Mrs. Hallenbeck: Sixth Grade Teacher
Education: BS Physical Education, Slippery Rock Univ. of PA. MA Education - University of Redlands. Learning Specialist K-12, RSP Certificate, Adaptive PE Cert. K-12 Health/PE, Administrative Services K-12.

Mrs. Hallenbeck has 30 years in the field of education, having worked in all grades in a variety of settings. She has administrative experience as a high school vice principal. Mrs. Hallenbeck coaches boys tennis at Citrus Valley High School, enjoys hiking, music, drama, theater, gardening and reading.


Mr. Lorson: Sixth Grade Science; K-6 Computer
Education: BS Business Management; Microsoft Certification, MCSE & MCDBA

After over ten years in the corporate IT sector, Mr. Lorson joined YCS in 2007 as K-6 computer teacher and IT Manager, a natural melding of his computer aptitude and desire to teach. This will be his fifth year here at YCS. John enjoys biking, swimming and spending time with his family.

Mrs. Simpson: K-6 Physical Education
Education: Attended Moody Bible Institute

Mrs. Simpson homeschooled her oldest three children through their elementary school years. She has done a variety of assignments at YCS including reading, sixth grade, and K-6 PE.

Mrs. Schooley: K-6 Music - Piano, Choir, Vocals, Music
Education: Music Education, Azusa Pacific University (2 years); Music Education, Biola University (2 years)
Pianist and Choir Director, First Baptist Church Montebello (18 years)

Mrs. Schooley’s singing experience includes the APU and Biola Chorales. She has been teaching piano for over 40 years. She is looking forward to continuing the development of the YCS music program.
